A Letter from the Publisher—
Welcome to Performance Conditioning Baseball/Softball the newest member of our family of conditioning publications. For six years we’ve published Performance Conditioning Soccer, Volleyball and Cycling, providing athletes and coaches cutting edge information to improve performance. That’s our commitment. And now we are excited to introduce you to Performance Conditioning Baseball/Softball. We are pleased to announce the cooperation of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and the National High School Baseball Coaches Association in this effort.
We choose to combine the two sports for several important reasons. Baseball and softball require almost identical skills. Conditioning, therefore, is nearly identical. We
address minor differences such as the pitching motion and the effects of training on
male vs. female athletes, but most information applies equally to each sport. Therefore, we can draw on the best expertise from both sports.
Performance Conditioning Baseball/Softball is more than just conditioning. You can bench press 500 pounds but not be able to hit a ball out of the infield or run a five minute mile but not last an inning on the mound. These sports have a high degree of sports skills that are necessary to perform at a high level. Athletic skills: power flexibility/mobility, speed, eye hand coordination, balance etc., enhance baseball/softball skills (throwing, hitting, running
etc.) and are closely linked. Therefore, we will present both to achieve our goal of building
better skilled baseball/softball athletes.
Besides baseball/softball sport and athlete skill development we provide you the latest information on injury prevention and recovery. Nutrition, including the latest supplements and what they do. Plus we give you facts on the baseball/softball support sciences such as vision, mechanics and the mental aspect of the game.
We have some very exciting things planned for you in the coming months. Be sure to take advantage of this free offer by sending in the card. You’ll like what you see, we guarantee it. If you any reason, your not satisfied we’ll refund the remainder of your subscription. You can’t lose, so act today!
Sincerely,
Ken Kontor, Publisher
